Hanukkah - a miracle of light

 

Hanukkah began with an act of heroic defiance - an uprising against an oppressive regime that threatened the existence of the Jewish religion.  A man named Mattathias couldn't and didn't allow this to happen, and in the aftermath of the Jewish uprising a miracle occurred that remains at the heart of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah.  Read the story of Mattathias and the Maccabees here.
